Hello Everyone, just a little update from Maine. The snow is falling right now with sleet and freezing rain. The temperature has been above normal lately. Spring is just around the corner and so is the onset of the lakeside rental season. We’ve had great guests last year and we look forward to seeing YOU here this year. We have lost alot of snow in the last two weeks and if these temps keep up, we should be free of snow by mid April. Fishing season starts April 1st in Maine so there’ll be fishermen looking for open water on Bear Pond to wet their lines in hope of catching the big one.
After Spring cleanup at the camp, we plan on having a virtual tour created for our website. Very exciting news. You’ll have a better idea of the cottage layout and the scenery at the waterfront.
Past guests have the opportunity to jot down their summer vacation memories on this blog. On the right side column at the bottom, find the META section and click on “register”. Easy as that. We’d love to hear from you.

2009 Rental Season

We are beggining to hear from renters looking for availability for the 2009 season. We will be updating our calendar this week with reservations for the last week of July and first week of August. The remainder of the season is still available at this point. All of our guests last year really enjoyed their stay and we hope many of them will be back. We have made some minor changes to our policies so please take another look at them before making your reservation. We stopped in yesterday to check on the cabin. There’s about a foot of snow on the ground and the road is pretty icy. We can still get into the cabin at this point. Summer seems such a long ways away.
Maine Waterfront Vacation Rental June Blog Entry

Good afternoon all! What a nice father’s day weekend we had at our Bear Pond camp. The lilly’s are starting to bloom and the lawn is growing like crazy. We put the swin raft out, touched up some paint and then lounged around for the rest of Saturday. The weather was perfect. We noticed the canoe seats have to be replaced, so we’re searching for repacements. The neighbor (Giroux) say’s the fishing has been good for Largemouth Bass. He caught one from his dock and then from our dock and then from his dock again.
The Labor Day weekend is still available for the camp rental, as well as September.

The Maine Waterfront Rental Calendar Is Filling Up Fast

There are still plenty of days left in June. July is half full and September is wide open as of this writing. August, however is almost fully booked. If you’re thinking of staying here sometime this summer, don’t delay. Check the calendar and pick up the phone. As soon as we have a deposit, the calendar will be updated.
We went to the camp this past weekend to do some yard work. The winter snow pack has traken a toll on a few of our plants. The beach looks perfect. There was some erosion during the snowmelt but mother nature had pulled through once again by bringing back the sand.

Hartford Snow Is Melting - Not Fast Enough For Most!

Update…At camp, the sun feels warm and the snow pack is starting to recede. There is still plenty of snow, up to two feet in some areas, left to melt off.
It was very nice to visit this past Sunday on April 6th, 2008. I can remember when we would visit and there was hardly any snow to be found, around this time of year. Turner Maine was to hit an all-time snow record of 150 inches this year. Not sure if they hit the mark, but it must be close. Hartford is north west of Turner and both towns share Bear Pond, with Hartford having more of the waterfront property. Soon the loons will be back and they will be calling and nesting and their chicks will be swimming come August. Ahh…memories
